Coronavirus Pandemic LIVE Updates: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said the number of coronavirus-positive cases in India has risen to 606, with 42 patients cured so far. Ten deaths have been reported so far from across the country. Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal told CNN-News18 there has been no community transmission so far.
In his first public address after announcing a three-week nationwide lockdown on Tuesday night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated on the need to practise social distancing in order to arrest the spread of the coronavirus. He was addressing residents of his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasia, via video-conferencing. “Today, the entire country is fighting against the coronavirus, it will take 21 days. Our effort is to win it in 21 days,” he said, adding, “Social distancing is very important to conquer this war.”
